Explore how you can get involved in digital badging at UW-Madison
Digital badges offer a convenient way for you to recognize and acknowledge the skills and knowledge your learners are acquiring.
Unlike traditional printed-on-paper certificates, digital badges contain metadata that links the badge to a specific learner, are verifiable, specific, and easily sharable. Badge earners who want a paper certificate can print one of several layout options on the Canvas Credentials website.
Each badge links to clear, detailed criteria that communicated to current or potential employers what the badge earner learned, how they learned it, and what they can do.
Digital badges at UW-Madison are governed by policy UW-1088.
The Digital Badge Service Team is housed in the Division of Continuing Studies
Consider joining the Community of Practice (CoP) for those who are currently issuing digital badges and those interested in digital badges.
The CoP meets every other month for 50 minutes and is organized by the Digital Badging Service Team. During the CoP meetings, we provide updates (for example on policy), training (for example on turning on the LTI integration for canvas/canvas credentials), and community conversations so people can share challenges and solutions with others across campus who are engaging with digital badges.
